Drive-Away Dolls Film Review By Logan Coleman

Drive-Away Dolls is the latest film from Oscar Winning Director Ethan Coen. The cast that stood out was Prime-Time Emmy nominee Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein. The film is a great throwback the early films of Oscar Winner Ethan Cohen that has elements of a screwball detective dramedy with sapphic elements of the film that is beautiful helped by it being Co-Written by Ethan and his wife Tricia Cooke who identifies as a Lesbian as well as being Queer.

This film has a great soundtrack. In some ways I found Oscar Winner Matt Damon to be miscast in his role. The film does have a lot of sex scenes, so parents be warned don’t take kids to see this film. This film does have connections to the LGBTQ+ community. I will say that the MacGuffin could have been changed to improve the overall story. In my honest opinion I’m hopeful that both Oscar Winner Ethan Cohen and Tricia Cooke will be nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. I am actually going against most other film critics, I am giving this film 9 and ½ stars out of 10.

Broken – A Palestinian Journey Through International Law Flashback Documentary Film Review By Logan Coleman

Broken – A Palestinian Journey Through International Law is the latest documentary film from Director Mohammed Alatar and it was released in 2018. This film follows a set of court cases by by the International Court of Justice and how they found the wall that was being in built in Israel to separate from Palestine to be illegal as the direct results the fact that Israel still continues expand their communities in land that belongs to Palestine and they continue try to say they own the land but in my honest opinion they do not. The collection of archival footage well excellently used for the documentary.

The film also does shows both sides of the conflicts from different perspectives of Palestinians and Jewish people in general. In my honest opinion it ultimately shows that the government of Israel showed no interest in trying a peaceful resolution with Palestine and refused to come during the court proceedings and they ultimately relied on the support of the United States to back them which they did even though ICJ found that Israel government has illegally taken lands that rightfully belong to Palestinians.

By building an illegal wall, the damage that Israel government has truly done is horrible and the United States has done nothing to prevent the genocide of Palestinians because of their continued support of Israel government. I am hopeful one day in my lifetime to see that Palestine will finally be free from the illegal occupation that Israel still has it under. In my honest opinion I was honestly shocked this was not nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary in the year it came out. I am giving this film 8 stars out of 10.

The cast that stood out was BAFTA nominee Dakota Johnson, Prime-Time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, BAFTA nominee Tahar Rahim, Prime-Time Emmy nominee Adam Scott, Jill Hennessy.                                                                               The film’s costume department did a phenomenal job. In my honest opinion, the film needed a couple of more rewrites. The film’s soundtrack was great in my opinion. I honestly think this film should have been trimmed by ten minutes to improve the overall pacing of the film. I am actually going against most other film critics, I am giving this film 8 stars out of 10.
